Welcome to Thao Dan's official website!
THAO DAN is a grass-root, non-profit organization ommitted to helping street children find alternatives to the harsh conditions of street life. Founded in 1992 by a group of committed youth, it has been Thao Dan’s mission to empower, support, and protect the street children of Ho Chi Minh City.
THAO DAN targets at street children and adolescents under 18 years of age. These people are facing with difficulties and risks in the street, such as lack of care, drug abuse, HIV/STDs infection, different types of abuse and exploitation, being enticed or forced to violate the laws, etc.
THAO DAN currently runs a safe house and a drop-in center. These centers, along with a well-established outreach program, embody the sensitive and respectful approach that Thao Dan takes in working with street children.

Streets Children in Ho Chi Minh City
Life and work on the street is harsh and dangerous. Children are vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, crime, imprisonment, and physical and emotional suffering.
Many are forced onto the streets to escape a dysfunctional or abusive home. Others live on the street with their families due to economic hardship. Some are ‘working children’ who may have a home and go to school but must support their families with street work.
